Coffee is the warm and ready friend of any real college student.  There is no amount of Red Bull of Mountain Dew that can compensate for a good old cup of joe.  But not all coffee is good coffee.  Yeah, I guess if you are in a pinch you can get gas station gut-rot or Starbucks.  But why settle?

An old friend of mine recently opened a new coffee shop on Haywood Rd. in West Asheville, NC, called Waking Life Espresso.  I have not sampled all that they have to offer, but it is hands down the best coffee in this town.  In fact, it rivals any cup I have ever had.  It is all locally roasted and prepared by the cup as it is order via an individual drip process.  I had the Kenyan blend he had today and it is rich with an almost grapefruit-like aftertaste.

Point here is this: if you have the time, go and hang out at this really intimate and relaxed environment.  They have Wifi, which is always a plus as a full-time student.  I give it two thumbs up, only because I don’t have three thumbs.

Tell Jared that Smoky sent ya!
